New Build
An inspirational, sustainable, energy efficient family home
In October 2020 Daventry District Council approved our plans for an outstanding new dwelling set adjacent to a Scheduled Ancient Monument on the edge of a small elevated settlement.
The design explores the protective functional role that the former adjacent Motte created to protect its inhabitants.
Enclosed defensible spaces gently spiral out of the ground in an elegant sculptural form which inverts the functional role of a Motte, creating an open central courtyard while embracing, enclosing & framing views & spaces from its commanding hilltop position.
The Paragraph 134 (Para 134) scheme had benefitted from engagement with and finally full support from the OPUN design review panel. Daventry D.C. were proactive throughout the process which had begun long before HAWKES were appointed in 2018 and ends a 10 year process since the clients first sought to obtain consent for a new house in this sensitive edge of settlement location.
This news has been a very welcome antidote to a very strange 2020. We look forward to continuing to help the clients realise their dream home in the wake of the pandemic.
