We have submitted plans to Daventry District Council for a new edge of settlement Para 134 new dwelling near Rugby. The house is adjacent to a Scheduled Ancient Monument, an old Motte & Bailey.
Two previous schemes had been developed for the site by a previous design team and presented to OPUN Design Review Panel. We were subsequently appointed and we began the design process again from scratch, developing an architectural narrative which sought to reinterpret the characteristic nature of a motte & bailey, inverting some of the structure’s elements to refine positive & negative defensive and communal spaces into a striking curved contemporary dwelling which strongly identifies principle long views across the landscape.
Full support was obtained from OPUN Design Review Panel prior to submission and we have been encouraged by the proactive engagement of the LPA throughout the process.
